The program of activities
requires effort, more than anonymous

biding,

selling the delay
for more than tortillas and beans:

also, the care in self-absorb,

distinguishes a useful repetition

of acquired wisdom and grinding.

A lifetime's composure
doled out in crepuscular morrales,

The canvas sacks with measured portions
of sweet grains
tied over fresh nostrils,
savored by pink tongues,
        the palate appeased.

This other fellow, the peripheral,
will not chaff us unprotested.
