Blessed and Damned Blessed | Poem

Blessed and Damned  Blessed

we are with innocence
Damned with sentient thought
Praying like hypocrite
for peace through wars we've fought
Our darkest schemes pervert our dreams
Our darkness damns our light
Combined as one,
as dusk and dawn
distort the day with night.
If evolution dragged us
here, from caves to outer space
from ancient flints to atom bombs,
I worry for my race
If evolution does exist
If not some great facade
I wonder what we'll grow into,
a devil or a god.
