INTEGRITY

time to admit it
to my snaggle toothed friend
i put that marble in with the grapes
shape and color fit there exactly
so much as ever
for outward signs versus inner substance

how could i know
that joke would choke you
though sappho told it better ~ true
zeus paint me grapes
that will baffle a crow
i will pay you well
why shouldn't art crack your overbite
or help get you ready for a lifetime of mush
you who never paid the potter for the bowl
