BLUE EAGLES
(after painting by Arturo Bell)
Two
eagles hunt the green land,
younger one glides nearby,
detailed in red,
the other, distant – form parallel
guides search of reptile forms
that writhe in hills,
search steep bank, deep pool
below terraced steps,
They zoom over the grey rock chasm
to white oak framed
by deep blue pyramid mountains further,
where rooster-dragon's tail clouds sky
to north – brilliant blue, surrounds.
The eagle in ocher etched -
poises to drop,
unseen talons spread.
