History's dangerous repetition
"It would seem that Karl Marx got things backwards. History does not repeat itself first as tragedy and then as farce." NO, it would not. The World Wars were
tragedy. The Cold War was a farce
and guess what Ms. Know It All Better Than Karl Marx! Today is the
beginning of another Cold War, with it's ensuing nuclear build-up, but
this time there are more nuclear armed players - exactly what the
Non-nuclear Proliferation Treaty tried to prevent. "It was the
Clinton
administration, which back in the Roaring '90s began the policy of
appeasing North Korea." And
it was the Cold War that created North Korea. It is the Bush
administration that refused the offer from North Korea not to build a
nuclear weapon if Bush would sign a pact not to attack Korea and he
refused. North Korea knows Bush would do a pre-emptive strike, aka Iraq.
"THERE IS of course also North
Korea's ally Iran." So sorry Glick, but the spin cycle is over
- time to hang out to dry on the cloths line under the sun.
"While hypocritical, the division
between rhetoric and substance has something to recommend it." Spoken like the proverbal politician! "...US can
support military actions by Japan
and South Korea against North Korea...so revamp its nuclear arsenal."
"...Bush
administration...change...policy...regarding
Iran...shame(ing)...Europe's appeasement...threatening Russia...if
Moscow continues supporting Iran, Syria and Hizbullah...building
up...military options to strike at Iran's nuclear installations...such
a move could even help the Republican Party in the
upcoming elections." A Jewish World Review Glick Dream:
Republicans staying in power and protecting Israel's occupation. "After
seven years, the myth of
Arafat the peacemaker exploded..." Arafat may have died but his truth lives on
- he offered to share Jerusalem (the TRUE core of the problem) but
Israel refused!
"Since Arafat appointed Mahmoud
Abbas, his deputy of 40 years, PA prime minister in 2003..." Indeed
lets go back in history...to the beginning, when Roosevelt wanted to
free ALL the colonies, but when Truman took over after Roosevelt's
death he changed our foreign policy into slicing up several countries,
including slicing Israel out of Palestine. How much cheaper in lives
and money would it have been for the Israelis to purchase that property?
"North Korea's nuclear test and
Iran's nuclear intimidation show us what happens when failed policies
are not abandoned." Iraq shows us what happens when failed
policies are not abandoned. "The question is whether it will force the US to finally part with appeasement, or whether Rice will convince President Bush to take his chances by repeating history a third and fourth time." Wowsier! That has to be the biggest spin on record! The entire history of humankind is warring - and we do nothing but repeat it.
