The Dead Don't mind If You touch Them

touching them     you know     what was there
                                                                    is already gone
              we follow
                                    as we can                    we
tumble like clothes in a dryer                like
like cloths stored in a smokehouse with
                                                           sun through the planks
and the acceptance of your hand
                   is so complete
                                              like water

                                                 or stone                          or
even your sleeping son's hand
                                        or his son
