That Old Standby — the Scapegoat

By Jonathan Tobin

Blaming Israel for America's troubles is never out of fashion

"...the likes of far-right-wing pundit Pat Buchanan or left-wing propaganda film author Michael Moore live."

Michael Moore does not blame Israel and the "American foreign policy" that he (we) object to includes all the many countries the US has supported brutal dictators (including Saddam).

"...the flaws in American foreign policy that have led us to war with fundamentalist Islam."

Choosing the word "flaws" to describe American foreign policy is like calling a beam a mote.

Last evening I listened/watched "God's Learning Channel and heard the fundamentalist (pre trib) Jews deriding the Arabs in such a manner as to make my mouth drop open. Point being, "fundamentalists" in all three religions are "priming" for their own brand of Armageddon.

"...sniveling weasels of the far right, complains that any criticism of the alliance is branded anti-Semitic."

"Sniveling weasles"? (name calling will never make a point)
"Far right"? No. It is the left that is complaining because that is exactly what has happening...may still be.

Not un similar to the brand of "Bush haters" - which none of us were - funny how only Bush adorers even chose to use the word "hate".

"According to Scheuer, friendship for Israel comes at too high a price for Americans.

"...blame the Jews" for the war on terror "

The other half of Americans (the 56 million that voted against Bush) does not "blame the Jews". We blame the leaders (and supporters) of both countries for not finding a peaceful solution to the problem...and...

...when oh when will the price be just right? When will our grief over the slaughter of human beings be high enough to force us to face our folly and when oh when will we learn to be good neighbors?

The smell of the Jews is great
The smell of the Christians is great
The smell of the Muslims is great

The smell of blood is ours as well as yours

The pen is mightier than the sword
Pick it up and write about peace
The litany of grievances that leads to
war is well warn and wearisome
Don't study war no more
The Human Heart is broken
The Human Hands are bloody
What will we do now Jonathan?
