Durbin is sorry, but what about Rangel?

By Larry Elder

"...attacked the Bush administration for its alleged mistreatment of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay."

Not alleged and not mistreatment. It was torture and it is documented.

"...Durbin...I'm sorry if [emphasis added] anything that I said caused any offense or pain to those who have such bitter memories of the Holocaust, the greatest moral tragedy of our time. . . . I'm also sorry if [emphasis added] anything I said in any way cast a negative light on our fine men and women in the military."

Note: Senator Durbin did not apologize for what he said - he apologized in that he did not intent offense or pain - to memories of the Holocaust or the military. His remarks were to the top dogs responsible for the torture. His exaggeration of the situation is called hyperbole!

"This brings us to Rep. Rangel. ""I am saying that people's silence when they know terrible things are happening is the same thing as the Holocaust, where everyone would have me believe that no one knew those Jews were killed over there."

That very silence is exactly why the holocaust, which started before W.W.II and continued to the end of that war, and exactly why the numbers exterminated continued - US leaders are included in the man countries that knew and kept silent.

"Rep. Rangel, your turn to apologize."

Larry Elder, it is your turn to act like an elder.
