Why
are 26 Israeli deaths a massacre as in "Passover Massacre"
and 50 deaths in Jenin not a massacre?
Why
does any rational human think droping an atomic bomb on civilians is not terrorism?
(maybe even it is the Original Sin of terrorism)
Why
do Eddie, O'Reilly et al choose one side of the story over the other?
Why
do Christian fundamentalists have a major interest in Israel being 'right'?
Where
are the Peacenicks?

command control to number one

isolate the leaders in a room naked
save for pen and ink
emerging only after finding accord
a lack and a lass there is no control
tears of the big boys
are a deep black hole
set them free
slaves are blowing their bodies up
master's children are shooting each other
we all are number one
part of our "we" soul dies
with every violent man caused death
a phantom limb forever twitching

there once was a parable of a mother
who would give up her own child
rather than have half of a dead one

lit up like a lamp
microcosm jeweling
jigsawing puzzling
ancient tribes and fears
limited only by unsight
universe nipping around the edges
lightening the corners
unlimiting the freight

the price of one gallon of gasoline?
pre September 11 near $2 or more
post September 11 near $1 or less

the real price of one gallon of gasoline"
4 Afghans
3 Iraqis
2 geese
1 whale
and
America's soul

true or false

oh no dough dough
it is true and false;
bin Laden is guilty.
this is not a war about religion.
it is about
learning to love the enemy
even the enemy of the self
fear thus not daunt us
only by example
will we set ourselves free

"it's a bit like a wild west show;
a bit untidy"

tora bora malawa
spin boldak mazar-e-sharif
can i get kan d har
in kabul
helicopters crashland in sand
smart bombs become errant
we are alone in this together
brother please come home

November Evening

everything is closer than I think
sun's hydrogen in the water that I drink
the voice in the shadows hiding
radio waves while I'm driving
pick it up
put it down
turn around
the world's still there
pick me up
put me down
go to town
the world's still there
everything's closer than I think
a nod to a blind horse that blinks
the time of my life that's coming
with waterfalls and drumming
pick it up
put it down
turn around
the world's still there
prop me up
drop me down
let it go
the world's still there
