who listens to the Earth?
\nwho now hears her impassioned plea for mercy?
\nwho speaks for the Earth?
\nwho watches as she burns?
\nwho strips her of vital soil,
\nteeming wildlife, and helpless trees?<\/p>\n
think of eons past
\nmillenniums of slow, ponderous growth
\nand realize the Earth to be
\nso much older, wiser than we<\/p>\n
feel the Earth breathe and sigh
\na living being, one harmonious organism,
\nso much greater and more lasting than we<\/p>\n
splendid diversity,
\never-changing patterns,
\ninterwove, interdependent,
\nintertwined by life\u2019s essence
\nyet each plant and creature an individual,
\nuniquely precious<\/p>\n
who listens to the Earth?
\nwho will now hear her call?
\nwho among her children is worthy to inherit,
\nto be reformed by her coming natural judgement,
\nand learn to love again
