i wondered today thru the poems, Jake,
\nthe ones i published, hard copy,
\nmine — and others<\/p>\n
not gonna speak here
\nabout your poems
\nor the one that found me you<\/p>\n
my meandering didn’t start at the beginning
\nof publishing, i’ve wondered there quite often,
\nperhaps i will again, but not now<\/p>\n
quite near the beginning, mid ’90’s
\nwhere my little ezine was born
\ni found interest of note,
\nmine
\nand others,
\nseventeen years post publishing,
\nclear as bell ringing
\nthose that touched my heart again,
\nthose remembered with hurt
\ni passed on by
\npassed by also
\nthose
\nwith neither<\/p>\n
about one hour sufficed
\nto pause, to ponder,
\nto remember
\nmy jake and all his facets
\nmost important to me now<\/p>\n
this day when i measured my life
\nas seventeen years a nurse
\nas twenty-four into poetics<\/p>\n
bringing me around to Jake
\nmy longest lasting understander
\nwho never needed to ask me
\nfor whom i write<\/p>\n
tonight, my Jake,
\ni write for thee<\/p>\n
