\nis where we were then
\nback where an eye for an eye was not enough
\nre hating the whole clan (or tribe)
\nwhere are we now
\nbut hating a whole clan (or Muslims)
\nnot only did we not act like Christians
\n(turn the other cheek)
\nwe didn’t even act like Jews
\n(eye for an eye)
\nand no
\nwe are not all the same
\nin our hating choices
\nas if we’ll never learn
\nthe object of our hate does not suffer
\nwe do
\nour body does
\nour mind does
\nour soul does
\nbut the spirit lives
\nthe very same one we are born with
\nlet it go
\nset it free
\nthen do the right thing
\nthis land is my land
\nthis land is your land
\nfrom California to the New York Island
\nfrom the Red red Forest to the Gulf Stream Waters

\nmight we not learn to respectfully disagree?
