ButterflyI can’t conceal this elephant
much longer
as the light from the carousel dims
by day
and halos circle smiles…by night
the beast
is brought onto his knees
sipping spirit ecstasyI tip toe round this labyrinth
of fantasy
hoping, wishing, praying
the grease not hit the flame
…tonight
not tonight
…let me
avoid the pain
the shame
to know
just where
I lost my name
I must
I slip outside my self
and enact this play called life
as the caterpillar weaves
a cocoon
in wistful hopes and dreams
of a butterfly
