The ‘R-word’ and the War on Terror
By Daniel Pipes
Will the world
continue to sink into a political Twilight Zone?
"...the term racist
cannot be ascribed to me.... No, the
evolution of this word is more complex than that.Racism is
now increasingly used to mean something far beyond its dictionary
definition."
Exactly how and why, Daniel
Pipes, lexicons keep up with common usage and publish up-dated
dictionaries. Example: When I was a child in the 40's a favorite
sing-song was 'ain't ain't in the dictionary'. My Webster's has the
word 'ain't'. I hope the next one will describe racism to cover any
group that considers themselves superior to any other group.
"...This attempt to legitimized political
differences must be rejected."
True but...political differences
are being made religious - in that war has always been fought by first
demonizing that which we would destroy.
"Racism refers only to racial
issues, not to views on immigration, culture, religion, ideology, law
enforcement, or military strategy."
Islamofascim, for example, is not in
the dictionary yet, nor is Christofascism or Judaicfascism
We could pray together that these
words to not become common enough to get into a new dictionary.
