We Are the World

By Efraim Karsh

"The London bombings had little to do with Iraq...We ignore that fact at our own peril...Osama bin Laden's war is not against America per se but is instead a manifestation of the radical Muslim agenda to make Islam the world's reigning religion."

It is our own peril to act as if we had not ears to hear Osama bin Laden's own words: US military out of Saudi Arabia and broker an honest peace between Israel and Palestine.

"This Islamic imperial ambition...as if Spain's Muslim rulers were its rightful owners and not colonial occupiers living thousands of miles from their ancestral homeland."

And face this of with Britain and America's imperial ambition...

"...Zaki Badawi...hopes that one day the whole of humanity will be one Muslim community...sounds familiar...Christianity's universal vision is also sweeping...Christian Europe had lost its religious messianism....By contrast, factions within Islam retain their imperial ambitions to this day."

Factions within Christianity in America retain their imperial ambitions to this day - in fact this very day they are lustfully hoping to take control of American courts - their ambitions being both imperial and national.

"...bin Laden represents nothing short of the new incarnation of Saladin..."

And George Bush represents nothing short of the new incarnation of Richard the Lion Hearted.

"The struggle will continue until the calls "there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah" are echoed all over the world."

The struggle will continue until the calls "there is no god by Yahweh and Moses is the messenger of Yehweh" are echoed all over the world.

"Radical Islamists view the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as simply one part of the larger holy war to establish the House of Islam."

To the suffering Palestinians it is simply refusing occupation.

"President Bush...Prime Minister Winston Churchill...Tony Blair..."

And Harry Truman can be blamed for carving Israel out of Palestine. Imagine how much less the cost of lives and money if Churchill and Truman had purchased the land instead of acting like some imperial powers.

But that whole deal had an ugly stench to it - promises made to the Arabs, if they would join the US Axis in the war, were broken.
