In this sense, in this
time, with all
courage and all determination,
we
call forth the judges of our souls,
here at the end, and we find when
we make this call with fortitude,
it is ourselves who come forth
. . .
how can this be?
With what sense, with what time,
with what exercise of courage;
who has determined that when we
would seek to be judged, and fulfill
this yearning for decision here
at
the end, that we might first discover...
how we must be?
Then, we sense a better purpose
of time, how it will deter the
courser
inclinations of our nerve, and
we find
an end, one we can adjudge to be
a most adequate conclusion to this
particular life and at last approve
how we may be.
