Can You Hear the Rain?

Raindrops cascading upon the roof
My daughter asks
Dad, can you hear the rain?
Yes,I can.
No. Not the sound,
Can you really hear the rain?
The rain is singing.
Can you hear the songs?
The rain cleanses the earth,
and makes it new again.
The rain is more than drops of water,
it is life itself.
Dad, can you hear the rain?
I used to, but I can't anymore.
Oh, dad, you can't hear the rain, she lamented.
I think I can again, if I only try.
Then try, dad. Just try.
