Push, Push | Poem

Push, Push

Money: I push and push;
I feel myself pushing,
pushing, forcing every
thing to go forward,
and I can't seem to
stop myself, or even
want to stop myself,
from pushing,
pushing.

It's as though a part
of my very soul is
pushing against
the other half,
push, push, push,
mindlessly or to
great purpose,
it doesn't seem
to matter.

Artist's note:
Will and Ariel Durant (1885-1981 and 1898-1981) wrote in "The History of Civilization" that "Every generation since has discovered new civilizations or cultures, and has pushed farther and farther the frontier of man's knowledge of his development.  There are not many things finer in our murderous species than this noble curiosity, this restless and reckless passion to understand."
