A Poem a Day to Millennium 28 September 1999
FREEZE - FRAME
Men in suits in big black
cars
seen
passing in the night
on errands
of a devious sort
with
money in their sights
Men in suits in big black cars
with
power on their minds
speeding
down the highway
paying
no fines
Men in suits in big black cars
holding
all the aces
and
keeping files with photos
of everybody's
faces
Men in suits in big black cars
bearers
of bad news
whenever
they assault the scene
it seems
you always lose
Men in suits in big black cars
waiting
for a plane
proclaiming
they are patriots
insisting
they are sane
Men in suits in big black cars
slightly
overweight
sipping
thier whiskeys
awaiting
their fate
Men in suits in big black cars
frozen
here in time.
