My Bonnie Lad and other paintpoems | Poem

My Bonnie Lad

May thee fair well my bonnie lad
I'm knowin' ye mus' go
My heart will e'er be wid' ye now
since first ye rowed ashore

The rose of dawn
Drums wild my heart
If'n yer comin' or goin' this wild
Drum
Dur--rumms for thee
O Wind thru my hair
Blow me laddie safely...

What the chain that binds me
to the shore
What safety in the tide
forever turning

O Rose in the deep reflective sea
Return my laddie wid de tide
Planted seeds
are viable now
next time
I sail wid he.
