goin'down | Poem
Editor's
note: quote is from Buffalo Springfield (Neil Young, Steve Stills, Richie
Furay, Jim Messina) song called Something Happening Here which was popular
in late '60s.
"something
happening here
what
it is ain't exactly clear
there's
a man with a gun over there
tellin'
me I've got to beware
stop,
hey, what's that sound
everybody
look what's goin' down
it
starts when you're always afraid
step
out of line the man comes and takes you away
young
people speakin' their minds
gettin
so much resistance from behind
stop,
hey, what's that sound
everybody
look what's goin' down"
A little rock
hagiography: Steve Stills and Neil Young went on to create
Crosby,
Stills, Nash and Young. Furay and Messina went on to create Poco.
Young did
Crazy Horse and sometimes Furay sat in. Buffalo Springfield were one of
the first groups to successfully incorporate dobros, steel guitars
and country
licks into political/psychedelic pop rock of mid-60s. Based in LA
but with
some ties to pranksters through Owlsly (the chemist who created thecleanest
acid in central California at the time) . Steve is the only one to
get fat,
but he plays such sweet licks almost everybody ignores that.
