Potlatch Blues

ball and chain
loss and gain
stuck in the middle
of a hard, cold rain
lord I got those potlatch blue
red rubber ball
tenement wall
busker with fiddle
asks me "Is that all?"
no  pain like those potlatch blues
I give and take
caught by the snake
ain't got winning cards
so I just bluff and fake
caught up in those potlatch blues

Where I Want To Be

where the sun touches the sand
where the land touches the sea
where the water meets the sky
that's where I want to be
that's where I want to be

when the judge is done
and the jury is in no hurry
when the worried prisoner
lays down his woe and worry
that's where I want to be

where the streetlights fade
and the night begins to rule
where the wise man has it made
when he acts the fool
that's where I want to be

it's easier to learn than unlearn
it's easier to swim than burn
it's harder to go than stay
it's harder to work than play
where I want to go
where I want to go
that's where I want to go

Attenuation

porch night
gold-plated stereo jacks
small breeze from the east
thinking not of
what to eat
but how

Pleasant Dreams

pleasant dreams for all of us
to be found
cause if you're looking for trouble
there's enough to go around
it's just a dream
we carry on
bright colors
soothing sounds
a dream we dreamed so long ago
waiting in the lost and found
