Let's Take What's Ours | Poem

Let's Take What's Ours

  for billions of years
  the solar tears have gathered
  plants and jurassic giants
reduced to a rich, black primordial soup
shale rock and oil underlie all of the planet
  but greed has won
the oligarchs have seized the source
  common wealth now private pelth
  is obscene
  excused by a lie:
"I turn the tap. You must pay the fee."
Enron, Exxon, Mobil feed on ignorance
  finite source, infinite truth
  let's seize it
  time to consider reform
fuel, the dark secret of this century
politicians fawn and the public pays
  greed's had its day
but it belongs to us all
for us all it should work
