one in a million
in a million moonlights
falling
one
in a drop of rain
unprisoned.
there
at ramming speed
it shatters on my face
and we have lost
another bit of
something unafraid
to remain uncounted.
one in a million
like the words i speak that have meaning
like the shovel slicing earth cleanly
between all possible roots.
and into soft soil,
the trees that would grow to tremendous size
from a single thimble of rain,
that instead was wasted on my cheek
as a tear at a gravesite
falling happily
from one eye closed
in a million.
